Dry Needling: A Tool for the Movement System, Course 3
This 1 day hybrid or 1.5-day advanced course in dry needling is a compliment to Course 1 and 2 in terms of evidence-based practice, safety, and practical employment of this treatment tool in practice. The purpose of this course is to further refine and expand the knowledge of the trained health care provider (>6 months integrating dry needling into clinical practice). At the end of this course, the clinician will have an update on evidence and advanced understanding of current conceptual models including radiculopathic, emerging evidence for tendon/ligament/scar dry needling, and use of electrical stimulation. Primarily, this course will include advanced assessment and treatment techniques for movement dysfunction as well as pain neuroscience for application of dry needling across multiple patient populations. To facilitate advanced understanding, all participants will submit, and selected participants will present, a clinical case to expand clinical reasoning in the application of dry needling within a management plan.
Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Develop an advanced understanding of conceptual models of dry needling techniques including trigger point, radiculopathic, tendon/ ligament/scar, and dry needling with electrical stimulation.
- Safely assess soft tissue along with underlying structures and employ a full understanding of the indications, contraindications, and precautions for application of dry needling on selected basic and advanced muscles.
- Discuss and practice assessment and adjunctive treatments for dry needling
- Develop advanced clinical reasoning to integrate dry needling into a comprehensive evaluation and management plan.
Eligibility:
This course is designed for health care providers that have experience with dry needling (>6 months) and are allowed to use dry needling in their practice and jurisdiction.
